The decision has been taken after Resso was removed from Google Play and Apple App Store following the order of the Government of India.

Resso will stop its music streaming service in India

TikTok parent company ByteDance launched Resso in India, Indonesia and Brazil in March 2020. ByteDance started subscription-only service on Resso in last May in India. Resso offered free and plan based subscription for users to streams music across various genres and languages. Although Resso streaming service is currently active for the present users but you can not purchase new subscriptions on the Resso app.

A Resso user shared this screenshot with us and you can see users on Resso from 31st of the January will not be able to play songs including both online and offline. If you are a paying subscriber on Resso your refund will be initiated on Jan 31. Please allow up to 7 business days for the refund amount to be credited to your account company said.

ByteDance announced in July last year to shut down of Resso in Brazil and Indonesia and launched TikTok Music in Brazil and Indonesia country. TikTok music also launched in Australia, Singapore and Mexico in last october. According to the MoneyControl/Report Company confirmed and said that it does not have plan to launch TikTok Music in India, where the government banned TikTok in June 2020, along with 58 other Chinese-owned apps and those bans were made permanent in January 2021.

Currently you can not see Resso App on Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, as first noted by Moneycontrol. If you still have the Application of Resso on your mobile you can listen to the songs but from Jan 31 neither you can listen online nor offline songs and if you are premium subscriber on Resso you will get your remaining fees refund.

Another factor working Resso competed domestic and international companies such as Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, JioSaavn, Gaana and Wynk among others in India.

So, finally as we know Resso will discontinue its music streaming service in India by the end of January after removing Resso app from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
