WhatsApp will allow users to silence calls from unknown numbers soon

Meta-owned WhatsApp is a popular instant messaging app that users allow to make calls through its platform. According to the report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will allow users to silence calls from unknown numbers soon.

Due to the present version of WhatsApp beta for Android, We found that WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to mute calls from unknown numbers while still displaying them in the calls list and notification centre, for a future update of the application. Several benefits come with this feature, including fewer interruptions and perhaps fewer unwanted phone calls.

One of the issues with WhatsApp Communities which is addressed in our overview of the newsletter tool, a new feature in development is that anybody who is a member of the community may contact the administrator because their phone number is always shown. This creates a significant issue since anybody could contact the community’s administrator, even if they do not need to do so and regardless of whether they had permission to do so. Happily, a brand-new feature that is presently being worked on for WhatsApp beta for Android is here to save the day: the option to decide whether to mute calls from unknown numbers.

As shown in this screenshot, WhatsApp is actively developing a new feature that will help users to block calls from unknown numbers in a future version of the app. When the option is turned on, calls from unidentified numbers are always muted but are still shown in the call history and notification centre. The option is found in the app’s settings.

Although spam calls have been an increasing concern in recent years due to fraudsters and their uninvited calls, instant messaging applications are no exception. This new feature may also considerably assist users in avoiding spam calls.

Scammers may use spam calls to steal personal information from WhatsApp users to mislead them into making payments or getting sensitive information. WhatsApp, on the other hand, allows users to block and report these callers and due to this feature, WhatsApp users may finally avoid getting calls from unknown numbers by muting them, which are usually connected with spam calls.
