WhatsApp rolls out Kept Messages feature for beta users | Android Self
Through the Google Play Beta Program, WhatsApp is releasing an update that brings the version to 2.23.4.10. What has been added in this update? For some beta testers, WhatsApp is introducing a kept messages feature inside chat info.
WhatsApp mentioned a brand-new feature that is in the works in the post regarding the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.7.4 update: kept messages. Using this feature will ensure that messages are kept for the lifetime of the chat for all participants. The feature was in development for a while, but we recently discovered that WhatsApp is now rolling out this feature to certain beta testers after installing the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.4.10 update from the Google Play Store:
As seen in this example, a new section named “kept messages” will appear inside the conversation details. When someone saves a disappearing message, it no longer disappears from the chat after its expiration, but everyone is still in control of the messages, and any time that they are deleted. All Kept Messages that were saved will be listed in this area so that everyone involved in the conversation may quickly access them in the future.

Please bear in mind that keeping a disappearing message is currently not available but it will be in the future. We agree that it is strange because the kept messages area is already included in the chat information, but it will come soon. Additionally, the option to star messages and the starred messages area inside chat details will be deleted for disappearing chats once it will be able to prevent messages from disappearing, as it makes no sense to star such messages if they are going to disappear.
Some beta testers who install the most recent version of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store may access the kept messages feature, and it is eventually rolling out to more users in the coming days. When WhatsApp reveals the option to keep disappearing messages in the future, we’ll keep you informed.
