Google Messages Introduced new features including Screen Effects and more
Recently Google announced 1 Billion active RCS users on Google Messages and introduced some new features for Messages including – Photomoji, Voice Moods, Screen Effects, Custom Bubbles, Reaction Effects and Animated Emoji. These features are slightly rolling out and only available for a few users.
The Google Messages team offered visuals of some new features coming to the messaging app. Some of these features are already available for some users on the app like Photomoji, Animated Emoji, Reaction Effects and more. However, Screen Effects is still not available for users but it seems like Google is gradually rolling out for Messages users.
Screen Effects feature appears when you type some specific messages like “it’s snowing” or “I love you” and more, with your friends try to unpack all 15+ hidden prompt words for Screen Effects as Google said. Unfortunately, I can’t see this Screen Effects feature on my device, it might be geo-based restrictions but hope Google is rolling out this feature for more users in the upcoming days and weeks.
Some features previewed in November by Google are still not available for users yet such as Screen Effects, Custom Bubbles and Profile. With Profile feature it helps you to identify other people more easily, especially in group where others may not have your contact information. This feature has been gradually rolling out in recent weeks to the beta channel and soon it will be available to all users.
With the Custom Bubbles feature you can change the background colour of the conversation by going to three dots from the overflow, but unfortunately this feature is still absent too.
You should notice Photomoji and these Animated Emojis (sent in chat as single ones) 👍❤️ 😂😮😡👎💩🎉😠😢 — available on your device. You can use all these features within both RCS and SMS conversations.
If you still don’t know What are RCS Chats? It means — (Rich Communication Services) that provides an upgraded extra feature for a rich messaging experience like showing you when a person is Typing, Read receipts, Send messages (over mobile data and WiFi) and let you Share Files and High-Resolution photos on the Google Messages app. RCS chats can be manually turned on if you click on your profile photo and then going to Message Settings > General > RCS chats and turn on to use all these features.
You can download or Update Google Messages from the Google Play Store and enjoy many of these new features available.
A Twitter clone, The Bluesky app is now available to all users
