WhatsApp is working on a new In-App Dialer to make calls faster
As we know WhatsApp always wants to give the best experience to its users all the time with weekly updates for a better messaging experience. This new feature in-app dialer was spotted on WhatsApp for Android’s beta version 2.24.9.28. It would be a convenient way to call someone with no need to save a number.
WABetaInfo revealed a preview of the in-app dial feature to make calls easier for more interactions with businesses. Now users will be able to make calls without saving the contacts, which reduces time and effort. It enhances the user experience with an in-app dial feature.
WhatsApp is also working on a feature called “Hidden group” that will allow users to hide groups in communities in a good way as spotted in beta version 2.24.9.20 of WhatsApp for Android, it only allows invited members to find and join the group and allows community admins to find and remove it. It is unclear when it is going to be released worldwide on the stable version.
In the attached screenshot above, we can see a preview of the in-app dialer feature. This will allow users to call others directly from WhatsApp without saving their numbers permanently on mobile. There is no need to switch to the default app to make calls, now users can make calls directly within the app. This is an advantage for those users who have access to Wi-Fi or affordable data plans, no more need for cellular networks to make calls.
The screenshot also shows a phone-like Call green icon suggesting the dialer is focused on making calling convenient, instead of messaging. After all, your WhatsApp chats, voice calls, and video calls are secured with end-to-end encryption. It enhances the user’s experience and international calls can be cheaper through WhatsApp instead of cellular calling.
A dialer within the app will save you time and effort calling someone in WhatsApp without saving their number first. It also speeds up the process of saving contact information.
This feature will be advantageous for some scenarios where users need temporary calls such as business meetings, enquiries, or online services with a dialer embedded within the app. The feature is unavailable for beta testers but might appear in one of the next updates. We will write another post with more information about the in-app dialer feature.
