WhatsApp rolling out new split view interface for Android Tablets

WhatsApp is a popular instant messaging app that allows users to communicate with friends and family. While WhatsApp was originally built for smartphones, many people prefer to use it on tablets because of the greater screen size and simplicity of use.

WhatsApp just issued an update for the Android beta app that adds a split view feature to the app’s tablet version. This new feature is a game changer for consumers since it optimises the User experience for tablets, delivers a better user experience on a bigger display, and allows users to see and operate two separate sections of the app on their tablet screen at the same time.

We revealed in the post about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.6 update that WhatsApp was releasing a version of the companion mode that allows an Android tablet to be linked to an existing WhatsApp account. Before, WhatsApp was not optimised for Android tablets, forcing users to rely on workarounds to utilise the software on their tablets. WhatsApp ultimately published a tablet-compatible version for certain beta testers in September, but the User experience was not tablet-friendly. But, WhatsApp is now introducing a new layout to the tablet version, which includes a split view.

As you can see in this screenshot, the most recent beta version of WhatsApp for Android tablets has a split view, which significantly enhances the user experience. Previously, when opening a chat on the tablet version of WhatsApp, the chat view would take up the whole screen, and users would have to return to the chat list to move to another conversation. The chat list is always available when opening a chat thanks to the most recent upgrade. Although the split view is available in the calls and status tabs, it is more helpful in the part of the conversation.

The split view, in our opinion, allows users to quickly shift between chats without losing sight of their existing chats. Furthermore, the split view makes it much easier to manage and organise chats since it allows users to easily navigate through the list of chats to find the one they need without leaving the current one.
