WhatsApp is developing a new text editor for its drawing tool
WhatsApp has recently released a new update via the TestFlight beta Program, bringing the version number up to 23.5.0.72. The WhatsApp Settings version is 2.23.5.72, and the TestFlight build is 23.5.0. (453593610).
What’s new in this version? WhatsApp is developing a new text editor for the drawing tool for a future app version.
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, with more than two billion active users. The app has always been known for its simple and user-friendly interface, which makes it easy for people to send text messages, voice notes, images, videos, and even make voice and video calls. Now, it seems that WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will take the app’s drawing tool to the next level: a new text editor.
The current drawing tool in WhatsApp allows users to add text, emojis, and doodles to images and videos. It’s a simple tool that serves its purpose well, but it’s not particularly advanced or sophisticated. However, according to recent reports, WhatsApp is working on a new text editor for the drawing tool that will give users more options and customization features.
With the new text editor, you will be able to use extra tools that will enhance your drawing experience. After a few days, we noticed that WhatsApp intends to add more typefaces to the new text editor, which will certainly improve the customisation experience. The feature is still under development on WhatsApp for Android, but we noticed that WhatsApp is finally working on bringing the same feature to a future version of the iOS app thanks to the current WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.5.0.72 update available on TestFlight.
As you can see in this screenshot, the new text editor will provide users with a very different experience by providing new fonts and tools to improve the drawing editor, similar to what we observed with the development of WhatsApp beta for Android.
- The major feature will enable users to quickly switch between fonts by tapping one of the font selections displayed above the keyboard. Although changing the text font is already possible, WhatsApp is making it easier with the new interface so that you can easily pick the font you desire.
- Text orientation may be changed to the left, centre, or right, allowing you more freedom over formatting text within photos, videos, and GIFs.
- Users will also be able to modify the colour of the text background. This tool will help you identify important text from others.
- When the new text editor is offered to beta testers in the future, these fonts will be available: Calistoga, Courier Prime, Damion, Exo 2, and Morning Breeze.
The new text editor is being worked on and it will be released in a future version of the app. As usual, we will post an additional blog when we have more information on the release to share with you.
